case

The HAN Academy of Sports and Exercise is one of the key players in promoting sports in eastern Netherlands. They are part of the Arnhem Nijmegen University of Applied Sciences (HAN), and their primary goal focuses on education, research, top-tier sports, and various social objectives about physical activities, healthy living, and equal opportunities. 

The academy asked us to brainstorm with them on the following subject:
We need a video campaign where diversity, the scope of the research, the people, the impact on society, athletic achievements, and the extensive network in which the HAN plays a vital role, is shown to the world.

 

– “Hey guys, can you turn this message into an explainer?”
-“Sure, leave that to us. But let’s not turn it into an explainer.”

 

The client is not king, The goal is. And this story did not ask to be put in an explainer, but something in between an explainer and a normal video. We concluded this after a deep dive into the target group and the academy’s story. Who are the people that we want to get moving?

Our target group was everybody in and around the network of the university. That means (international) students, researchers, directors, sports organisations en others sporty partners and stakeholders.

Goal: to let HAN step out of the shadow and show the target group the important work that they are doing; regional, national, and international. They were ready to share their work.

A brand film that connects with the character of the academy in every shape: dynamic, youthful, energetic, versatile, and ambitious. All the creative elements had to come together to convey these emotions.
 

Therefore we gave individual attention to all aspects – copy, voice-over, sound design, camera work, animation, and editing – and carefully aligned them with each other. And if we may say so ourselves (HAN said so as well), it turned out great.
